By combining optimal recycling with state-of-the-art materials, the robust TU/e main building from the sixties will be transformed into a transparent and energy efficient University building. Rollecate has been commissioned to supply and install the aluminium window-frames and curtain walls. We have been able to further optimize the system which is used for this project which allows for many logistic and qualitative advantages.
The new glass curtain wall with windows, which can be opened automatically and individually operated, is equipped with a triple solar control glazing (triple glazing) with double fabric which consists out of an indoor sun and light resistance on the inside. By using state-of-the-art materials, this ‘simple’ curtain wall receives the Rc-values of a double skin façade.
Through the application of this type of curtain wall, as much as possible already existing (façade)construction can be maintained (sustainable and cost-effective), while meeting more than the required energy efficiency, daylight and appearance.
The goal is to earn the university building the ‘Outstanding’ rating of BREEAM (a leading sustainability assessment method)
